**** Had to update my previous review as the shedding of the half-bristles simply stopped! It's weird, I bought the brush in early 2026 and only noticed the shedding bristles about 3 months later, after running my hand through the bristles to remove some hair. Came "this close" to throwing the brush away but didn't because it still works just fine and it's a good-looking and well-made brush. Now I have to say, for the money it's a damn good brush and I stand corrected! ****Had a Bass brush very similar to this for many years and never had a loss of bristles like this new one. Have had it for appx. four months and out of nowhere it starts shedding big time. Not acceptable from a brush-maker. Ergo, like the title of a Neil Young/Crazy Horse song, "It's a piece of crap."

I have fine hair, so I bought the corresponding brush from Bass based on a recommendation from a friend. I think the quality is good (it's not impressive but it's not junk either). It's lightweight, which I appreciate. The bristles are a decently stiff nylon that works well on my shorter hair, but is not quite sufficient for the longer parts. It honestly feels great running through my hair and scratching my scalp, a much more enjoyable feeling compared to a comb. I've been using this after a shower and again before adding styling paste (using my comb after) and I've noticed that my hair has started to maintain my style when dry, and the overall sheen has also improved. I'm assuming that's because it's helping move oils around, definitely has something to do with the extra brushing though.

Updated Nov. 2022: Added two pics & repurchased again this year. Bought the original brush in March 2017 and used it for over 5 years. Kept it dry and clean and it held up well. It was such a quality product that I had to buy another one! I passed down the old brush to our new cat who loves this it as much as I did. I wanted to try this brush to see for myself all the benefits I have been reading about. Over the past few years I have been taking steps towards healthier hair. Since I stopped using heat products, blow drying, and reduced washing, my hair has grown much longer. My whole life I have been using cheap plastic brushes, so I thought this brush could be an investment that improves my hair quality and lasts longer. What I found was that this brush most definitely reduces snags, but in the process does not actually get the tangles out. It creates quite a bit of static so while I'm trying to smooth my hair it ends up sticking out in all different directions. I love this brush because it's very gentle and is perfect for fine hair. Brush has well made handle of bamboo with alternating light and dark wood and coated to prevent water damage. Unique style makes it easy to spot among other brushes and is lightly stamped on handle as soft 100% boar's hair bristle. It's comfortable to hold with nicely rounded edges and is sturdy to last very long time. Bristles are dense and work well with hair that it's specifically made for. Boar bristles are soft but stiff enough to move easily through hair and are gentle on scalp too. Most brushes are too stiff, hard and rough if you have fine thin hair but this brush is excellent. Here's the deal. There are a lot of negative reviews saying that the brush is falsely advertised because it contains 'wood, wire' and other such bristles. I personally was apprehensive about ordering my brush due to these reviews. Let me lay your fears about that one to rest.The brush comes with a paper tag held on by elastic (says Green in the picture). Inside this tag, Bass advertises that they offer brushes with boar's hair, wood, wire, and a couple of other types of bristles. These types of bristles are FOR OTHER BRUSHES. Bass is simply advertising its other merchandise to you. This is indeed a 100% boar's hair bristle brush, and it says so on the handle.About the brush itself: I have to say that I like this brush. I was a little disappointed that the brush I received wasn't a solid, light color like the picture was at the time I purchased it. It's a striped pattern of light and dark instead. However, that's not a big deal in light of how happy I am to have purchased this brush. I am a "tenderhead" and this brush has yet to hurt me, unlike the regular plastic brushes I had always used before this. I dreaded brushing my hair before - it was painful and I was sick of seeing all the hair on the brush afterwards. I don't have that problem with this brush.
